Lila Platt Sassman, age 89, of Millcreek, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 28, 2021 at St. Vincent Health Center.
She was born in Wharton, PA on August 30, 1932, the daughter of the late Ira and Annabell Wilson Platt.
Lila was a 1950 graduate of Emporium High School, after which she worked as a secretary at Sylvania in Emporium, PA from 1950 to 1952. She worked for Hornes Department Store in the cosmetics department from 1972 to 1984, then as a makeup artist from 1984 to1986.
Lila was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Sassman; a brother, Vaughn Platt.
She is survived by a son Allan Sassaman (Carol) of Erie, PA, a daughter, Terri Thompson (Will) of Altoona, PA; and grandchildren, Paul Bocianowski, Eric Sassman (Marie), Stephan Bocianowski, Laura Sassman Pabellon (Johnathan); James Bocianowski, Jonathan Bocianowski; great grandchildren, Skye Bocianowski and Evan and Fiona Sassman and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services at West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue, on Saturday December 4, 2021 from 12 noon until the time of service at 2pm. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
