Lewis “Brother Lew” Townes passed away on Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Somerset Community Hospital in Somerset, PA.
Lewis was born June 5, 1949 in Birmingham, AL to the late Jack Townes and Louise Brown Allgood and Stepfather Porter Allgood.
Lewis graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland, OH, where he later worked for G.E. and Owens and Brockway for 8 years. He loved to dress, loved his Cadillacs, the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos, particularly, John Elway. Lewis was an avid music fan of the Whispers and Alexander O’Neil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and his two grandchildren; Kareem Townes Jr and Kamron Townes.
Lewis leaves to cherish in memory, his wife, Gail Townes: two sons; Jamaal Page and Kareem Townes and his daughter Najee Townes all of Erie. His 13 grandchildren; Devin Townes, Jovan Page, Michael Lester, Jamarr Page, Brianna Norman, Hailey Page, Kharlon Townes, Jakiah Townes, Teniya Townes, Indiara Townes, Janiqua Page, Eli Martenez, and Sadira Montero. One Great Grandchild Zayden Townes. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street from 11am until time of service beginning at noon.
