Leslie Stone

Leslie Z. Stone, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his residence.

He was born April 22nd, 1935 in St. Albans, VT, a son of the late John E. and Marian Zerbe Stone.

He graduated from Peters High School in Southboro, MA and the National Radio Institute in Washington, DC. Leslie served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder for the Erie Strayer Co, the American Sterilizer Co. as a welding instructor for Erie Marine Division of Litton Industries and retired as a welder from the Riley Stoker Co.

Leslie was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church, Motor Boys International, Thermal G Eagles RC Club, Zem Zem Temple Shrine, Scottish Rite Body Valley of Erie, Tyrian- Commonwealth Lodge No. 362 F. & A.M., and the American Legion Post #773.

Les was an avid boater and had a passion for wooden boats, owning several over the years. He also enjoyed designing and fabricating engines, manufacturing each part himself. His greatest joy was traveling the world with his wife Donna, they had many adventures together.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years Donna Stone.

Survivors include his children, Paul Stone and his wife Cynthia of Erie and Jane Cimbalnik and her husband Timothy of Brookfield, WI; his grandchildren, Daniel Stone of Erie and Andrew and David Cimbalnik of Brookfield, WI. He is further survived by his brother, George Stone and his wife Diane of Reno, NV and sister, Susan Mitrovich and her husband Michael of Mill Valley, CA.

Services with interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery were private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
