Leonard Jablonski

Leonard Jablonski, age 85, of Erie, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Twinbrook Health Care and Rehabilitation.  Len was born in Erie, the son of the late Frank and Jean (Herdzik) Jablonski on November 26, 1936.  He graduated from Tech High School in 1955 and went on to get his teaching degree from Edinboro State Teachers College in 1959.  In 1964 he completed his Master of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.  His entire career was in education, both as a teacher and as a principal in the City of Erie.

He met his future wife during Freshman Week at Edinboro and they married in 1963.  Together they had the joy of having three great children and watching them grow into adults with families of their own.

For over 40 years Len served as an elder and minister in several Erie congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses, spending the last two decades as a member of the Asbury Woods Congregation.

Len used his teaching ability to share his Bible-based hope for the future with others.

In addition to his parents, Len was preceded in death by his brother Edward Jablonski.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Matzke Jablonski; and his children, Tracey Battles (Dante), Jeffrey Jablonski (Evelyn), and Laurie McCarthy (Christopher).  He was also the proud “Papa” of Dante Battles (Rebecca) and Jonathan (Kylie) Battles, Sophie and Samuel Jablonski, and Ethan and Keira McCarthy.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Twinbrook and Heartland Hospice Services for their fine care.
