Leon F. Barnes, age 81, of Erie, passed away Saturday July 9, 2016 at St. Vincent Health Center. Leon was born on February 22, 1935 in Erie, a son of the late Leon Barnes and Mildred Young Barnes Rice and step-father Ernie Rice.
Leo graduated from Millcreek High School. He owned and operated Barnes Mobile Lunch, servicing businesses in the Erie area for over 33 year. He retired in 2006. He was a lifetime member of the Radio Association of Erie and was active in Boy Scouts of America in Ohio and West Virginia for a number of years. He also enjoyed golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Collins Barnes and his brother Frank Barnes.
Leon is survived by his wife of 19 years, Alene Bricker Barnes; his daughter Tammy Barnes of Erie; his step-children Anne Bricker (Scott) Lane and her family and Edward Bricker, both of Colorado; grandson Patrick Dolak; sister-in-law Mary Catherine Collins Horton; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Wednesday July 13th from 3 until the time of the service at 5pm at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. Private burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
