Leo C. Fortsch, age 75, of Girard, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his residence.
He was born in Punxsutawney, PA on March 31, 1941, a son of the late Leo and Agnes Sadoski Fortsch.
Leo graduated from McDowell High School. He worked for Steris Corporation as a trouble shooter.
He enjoyed gardening and had an extraordinary green thumb. Leo loved spending time outdoors riding four wheelers, flying kites and especially his remote airplanes. He was a devoted husband and will be remembered as being a gentle loving soul.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Fortsch.
Leo is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jane Kulaga Fortsch; his children: Sherri Thomas and her husband Dale of Pittsburgh, Steven Fortsch of Erie, John Fortsch and his wife Shannon of Cranesville, and Vickie McClay and her husband, Darin of Fairview; a step daughter, Kimberley Wynn and her husband James of Sheffield, PA; and a brother William Fortsch and his wife Diane of North Carolina. He is further survived by nine grandchildren: Katie, Jackie, Garret, Heather, John Jr., Aja, Ian, Destiny and James; as well as a daughter in law, Joyce Fortsch of Erie.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard, on Tuesday from 4-7 pm and attend Prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30a.m followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m at St. John the Evangelist Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard.
Burial will be at Delevan Cemetery in Delevan, NY on Friday, June 10th.
