Lee Phillip Jackson, age 71, of Millcreek Township, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 after a brief illness.
Lee was born on August 20, 1945 and was predeceased by his birth mother, Mildred Wolf Jackson and an infant son, Scott Allyn Jackson. He was raised by his late parents, William T. Jackson, Sr. and nurturing mother, Helen Stent Jackson.
Lee attended from McDowell High School, Edinboro University and earned his Master’s Degree from Seton Hall. He taught math for 27 years in Montgomery Co. Maryland. He coached wrestling and soccer. Lee was a devoted follower of the NCAA and the NBA.
He will always be remembered for his quick wit and humility. Lee had a smile for everyone.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 27 years, Judy Smolinski Jackson and his children, Marc Jackson of Ogden Utah and Heather (Mark) Thompson of Providence, Utah. He also leaves 11 wonderful grandchildren, a great-granddaughter. He is further survived by six siblings, William T. Jackson, Jr. (Bette) of Pittsford, NY, Donald Jackson (Sharon) of San Diego, CA, Gary (Judy) Jackson of Erie, Karen Jackson Byrd of Erie, Dr. Thomas (Cheri) Jackson of Miramar Lakes, FL and Patricia Jackson Lucente of Erie, who made him the best Rice Krispie Treats. Lee was raised in a loving family. The bond they shared and continue to share will live on. To his many nieces and nephews he will always be their “Uncle” Lee. Buddy and Dottie, his furry four legged children miss him already.
The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at Millcreek Community Hospital for allowing him to die with dignity. His wife felt they treated him with respect and empathy and would like to thank them again from the bottom of her heart.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue) on Thursday from 2:00 until the time of service there at 5:30 p.m. with his brother Dr. Thomas Jackson officiating and eulogizing. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
