Lazaro Trevino

August 26, 1939 — April 29, 2021

Lazaro B. Trevino, age 81, of Erie, passed away at his residence on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

He was born in Santa Maria, TX on August 26, 1939 son of the late Reynaldo Trevino and Maria Barrera Trevino.

He worked as a laborer for various construction companies throughout his life.  He loved to watch boxing, working on cars, and visiting family in his home state of Texas. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was even featured in the Erie Times News on February 11, 1996, titled, “A Lone Walker” while walking by the former Hammermill property. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters, son Daniel John and granddaughter, Marissa Mae.

He is survived by his wife, Maria L. Trevino; 5 children, Mary Lou Wenzel, (late husband Christopher) Lucy Yurkovic (Martin), both of Erie, Lazaro Jr. (Loretta), of Lima, OH and David Trevino (Luciana), of Erie, sister Elida Trevino Garcia, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family with Fr. James P. McCormick, pastor of St. James Church, 2635 Buffalo Road, Erie, officiating. Current CDC guidelines for face masks and social distancing will be followed.  The service will be livestreamed for public viewing at www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott.

Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc. Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, Erie, PA 16510.

At Lazaro’s request, memorial contributions can be made to the House of Mercy, 2005 Woodlawn Avenue, Erie, PA 16510, attention sister Michelle Schroeck.
