Lawrence (Larry) B. Rickrode, age 80, of Millcreek, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at UPMC Hamot following a very brief illness.
He was born in Erie on May 27, 1934, a son of the late Lawrence H. and Agnes Mason Rickrode.
Larry attended East High School, and went on to work at Hammermill for 45 years.
He was a member of the Model A Club and the “Las Vegas Club” going there as often as he could. He was able to fix or build anything. He enjoyed bowling. He especially loved going camping with family and friends. Larry was a very devoted family man and so loved being with his family. He was an entertainer and enjoyed making people laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Rickrode; brothers-in-law, Bob Washek and Ron Neubert; mother and father- in- law, Karl and Hilda Washek; and his beloved dog Maxi.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 59 years, Carole Washek Rickrode; two sons, Jeff (Gretchen) Rickrode of Girard and Chris Rickrode of CA; three precious granddaughters, Leslie (Jeremy) Woodruff, Erin (Ken) Mesanko and Rebecca (Rich Minnich) Rickrode; the delights of his life, two great granddaughters, Abigale Woodruff and Arayah Mesanko; two sisters, Mary Lou Neubert and Ann (Jack) Yoset; three sisters-in- law, Marlene Fedorko, Billie Rickrode and Sandra Washek; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon Stephen Washek officiating. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
