Lawrence Diver

Lawrence V. ”Larry” Diver, age 93, passed away Wednesday November 23, 2016. On Wednesday, Larry got his wish, and was “back on the road” again with his beloved Judy Johnson Diver and their FUNTIME AMUSEMENTS. From March until September, they would travel from their Jensen Beach, Florida home, up and down the East Coast with a motor home, a Suburban and a twenty foot trailer in tow. For twenty-seven years until he was 78 years old, Larry was on the road, setting up, playing the festival, tearing down and then driving to the next spot. The carnie business was actually Larry’s third career. After graduating from Harborcreek High School in l941, he worked for the RENNO Railroad for 10 years, and later the Erie School District in maintenance for 9 years. Railroading was a lifelong passion for Larry, and he got to share that with thousands of kids as he took them on his train ride, the featured attraction of FUNTIME AMUSEMENTS.

Preceeding Larry in death besides his parents and wife were his sisters , Bea Haibach and Junie Santo Pietro.

Larry was born in Erie, February 27, 1923, the son of the late Lawrence Victor and Florence Roberge Diver. He is survived by his children: Veronica “Ronnie” Higley and her husband, Leo, of St. Petersburg Florida, Barbara Czulewicz, of Covington Kentucky, Sherrie Battles and her husband, Jadelle of Erie, Lorrie Yunik, and her husband Bryan of Albion, and Larry Jr. of Harborcreek. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

At Larry’s request services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
