September 12, 1943 — October 20, 2016

Lawrence L. Cox, age 73, of Erie, went to join his buddies in peace on Thursday, October 20, 2016.  He was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Margaret Lucy St. John Cox.
Larry was married to Christine L. Gajewski Cox on October 24, 1964.  They would have celebrated 52 years of marriage and were blessed to have five beautiful children, Lawrence Cox, Tamara Humphrey (John) and Michelle Campbell (Terry), all of Erie, and Jason Cox (Amber) of Zelienople, Pa. and Darren Cox (Michelle) of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Larry was an over the road truck driver for 40 years.  He received a safe driving award for two million miles.  His most recent job was at ABF Freight.  He had previously worked for Holmes, Jones Motor, and Eazor.  After retirement his interest was his cars - a 1952 Chevy and a 1967 Plymouth that he and his wife enjoyed.  They met wonderful friends and went to many car cruises.  Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran, enjoyed following college football especially Syracuse, and liked to watch country western movies with his favorite being Shane.  In past years he enjoyed hunting with his sons at his brother-in-law and sister's camp in Pithole, Pa.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by five sisters, Lillian Barth (Chuck) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gwendolyn Winter (Ernie) of Pleasantville, Pa. and Sally Keene (Ron), all of Erie, and Debbie Dean and Patricia C. Collins (Scotty), both of Panama City, Fla.; three brothers, Douglas Cox of N.C., Arthur Cox (Andrea) of Meridian, Idaho and Martin Cox (Sharon) of Erie; nine grandchildren, Mason Keys, Abby Zielinski (Mark), Jackson Fetzner, Mya Burns, Madi and Coltyn Cox, and Nick, Ethan and Hannah Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday 3 to 7 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street.  A service will be held there Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Michael G. DeMartinis officiating.  Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to The ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
