Lavanice Bryant

LaVanice Anderson Bryant, age 97 of Erie passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Oil City on April 28, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Carl and Julia Kelsey Anderson.

She attended Union City High School; she had worked for Falconer National Worsted Mill in Falconer, NY and then she retired from Saint Vincent Health Center as a Nurses’ Aid after 24 years of service.
LaVanice was a former member of the Kearsarge Church of God and is a current member of New Hope Presbyterian Church; she liked crocheting, bowling, and flower gardening. She was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Stephen J. Bryant; seven sisters, Amy Smith, Alma Kimes, Alena Niezmik, Alice Wojtecki, Adoline Wakefield, and Carol Christian; a brother, Carl Anderson, Jr.; her granddaughter Cynthia Salvaggio, her great grandson Matthew Voto; son-in-law, Robert Stauffer and a sister-in-law, Doris VanTassel.

LaVanice is survived by four daughters, Marilyn McCool, of Erie, Carolyn Stouffer of Jamestown, NY, Judy Schwab and her husband James, of Jamestown, NY, and Shelly Pennsy and her husband Thomas ‘T.J’, of Lake City, PA. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2:00 p.m until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry Johns III officiating.

Burial will be in Riceville Cemetery.
