Laurie McCain Tredway, 71, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at her home with family surrounding her during her last few days and in view of one of her favorite sights: a shimmering Lake Erie.
Born June 2, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Donald P. McCain Sr. and Patricia M. McCain. During her younger years, she and her family spent summers in Manchester Heights, Fairview; she returned there as an adult and raised her family just down the road from her childhood home.
A 1969 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Laurie received an Associate’s degree from Mount Ida Junior College in Newton Center, MA.
She was married on June 4, 1977 to Philip M. Tredway, who survives her. Their three children also survive her.
Laurie volunteered at the Gertrude A. Barber Center and used her learnings from Tole art classes to paint a number of nutcrackers that stand at attention throughout her home. She also had a gifted eye for artwork, evidenced by the beautiful pieces displayed there.
She was very proud of her family on both the McCain and Tredway sides. Many would gather with Laurie and Phil for holiday parties, engagement and wedding celebrations, and one last time to lift her spirit at the end of her life.
Besides her husband, Laurie is survived by one son, Thomas A. Tredway (Ann M. Tredway) of Fairview; two daughters, Patricia H. Tredway (Kunal Khatri) of New York City and M'Evie Tredway of Erie; two brothers, Donald P. McCain Jr. (Oat Rattanakorn) of Erie and J. Scott McCain (Julie McCain) of Fairview; two sisters, Susan H. Brezina (Paul Brezina) of Fredon, NJ, and Julie M. Schirmer (Skip Schirmer) of Falmouth, Maine; a sister-in-law Caroline B. Tredway of Nyack, NY; four grandchildren, Addison and Molly Tredway of Fairview, and Asa and Simone Khatri of New York City; and 13 nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, close family who predeceased her include a grand-nephew Michael McCain, grandson William M. Tredway, brothers-in-law William P. Tredway and Robert E. Tredway, and sister-in-law Nell T. Hardy.
