Lauri Suokas

Lauri Suokas, age 90, of Erie, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge.

He was born in Finland, May 14, 1923, son of the late Juho and Anna Maria Virolainen Suokas.

Mr. Suokas attended school in Finland and was a veteran of the Finnish Army during WW II. He was a retired tailor and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Airi Tolvanen Suokas; a daughter, Maarit Viscusi and her husband, Donald of Fairview; two sons, Glenn Suokas of Virginia and Roy Suokas of Maryland; a sister, Impi Hyytiainen, and a brother, Tenho Suokas, both of Finland as well as many extended family members in Canada and Finland. .

Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street Eire, PA 16506.
