Erie

Laura Lee Nicastro, age 40, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Born in Erie on October 9, 1984, she was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend who always had a great zest for life.

A graduate of Villa Maria Academy High School, Class of 2003, Laura found joy in the simple yet profound moments of life—cherishing time spent with family, friends, and most especially her beloved dog, Rex, whom she affectionately called her “little boy.” Her passion for animals was reflected in her commitment to nurturing and providing many with a safe and loving home. She was also a member of the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club.

Laura was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles J. Bizzarro and Rose (Musone) Bizzarro, as well as Fred R. Nicastro and Anna “Gogo” (Bernat) Nicastro, and her uncle, Gary Hills. She is survived by her parents, Robert D. Nicastro and Patricia R. (Bizzarro) Nicastro, her brother, Robert Nicastro, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

At the request of the family, the funeral service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) https://www.breakthrought1d.org/ or The Erie Humane Society https://www.eriehumanesociety.org/ in Laura’s honor.

Though her time with us was far too short, Laura’s fierce spirit will continue to radiate in the hearts of all who knew her.
