Laura P. Damon

Laura P. Damon, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 26, 1938 to the late Mason Orne and Louise Provost Damon. 

After graduating from Smith College, Laura joined the first group of the Peace Corps in 1961 and taught students in Ghana. Her experiences there inspired a lifetime of learning and activism. She taught English Lit at Niagara County Community College and was an avid horsewoman. 

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Martin and her beloved dogs, Toby and Shadow. 

She is survived by her daughters, Misa Martin and Sarah (Aaron) Nichols; grandchildren, Julianna Damon Martin and Anthony Nichols.
