Larry R. Barr “Earthshaker” age 68, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his residence.
He was born in Erie on October 17, 1952 a son of the late James L. Kuffer and Betty Anne Crumley Barr Kuffer.
Larry was a 1970 graduate of Tech Memorial High School and went on to work at Leo Banka and Son and later owned and operated Larry R. Barr Restoration of Antique and Classic Automobiles.
He was a member of the Hamilton School PTA, several Antique Automobile Clubs; Board Member of the Salvation Army and was a photographer for the Kearsarge Fire Department.
Larry also played in several local bands, most recent TK Blues Co.
He was a very handy and creative man that loved doing projects at home. He could build or make anything from start to finish. Above all, Larry loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Eckard; in laws, George and Marian Eckard; and a brother in law, Joel Hirt.
Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Eckard Barr; his children, Anita and her husband Dr. Carl Seon and Dr. Timothy L. Barr all of Erie; a sister, Thasia Lunger and her husband Theodore of Erie; two granddaughters, Alexandria Bretherton and Jillian Seon; two brothers in law, David Eckard and his wife Kay of Springfield, OH and George Eckard of Cranesville, PA; and sister in law, Linda Hirt of Prospect, PA. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Major Leslie and Major Susan Walters officiating, at the Erie Cemetery 2116 Chestnut Street, Erie, PA 16502. All CDC guidelines will be followed, social distancing and masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army 1022 Liberty Street, Erie, PA 16502.
