Larrie Dudenhoeffer, age 86, of Erie, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, at his residence surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous year-long fight against cancer.
He was born May 11, 1938, in Erie, a son to the late Rupert and Madeline Klein Dudenhoeffer.
Larrie was a graduate of Cathedral Prep, class of 1956. After a few jobs and some college classes, he joined his uncle working for his grandfather’s family business, Klein Plating Works, in 1959. He held many roles throughout the years and eventually became the third-generation owner in 1981. He skillfully led the company through decades of growth until he stepped down as owner in 2013. Larrie continued to help the company up until his death by serving as an active member on its board of directors and as a valued advisor. His leadership and wisdom will be sorely missed.
He was a member of the University Club, Aviation Club, and Electro Platers Society, as well as a 37-year golf member of the Kahkwa Club. He proudly served as a two-term president of the Greenbrier Hills Association. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and a devout Catholic whose faith in Jesus never wavered.
His passion for the past 13 years was his grandchildren and spending time with his family in any way possible. Family always came first to Larrie. He was an avid golfer all his life, and founded, with his brother Jon, the Cathedral Prep Rambler Golf Classic in 1989. Larrie loved decorating for Christmas, had a passion for cars, and loved to travel with his family. His gentle nature and warm smile had a way of endearing him to all those he met. He was genuine. He was a true gentleman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jon R. Dudenhoeffer; brother-in-law, Donald Diplacido; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Dudenhoeffer.
Larrie is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Camille Dudenhoeffer; two sons, Joseph (Rebecca) and Larrie (Teresa) Dudenhoeffer II; two grandchildren, Grant Christopher and Anna Camille; sister, Lois Diplacido; and three children from a previous marriage, Mary, Lisa, James and their children. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
