Krista Placidi

Krista R. Placidi, age 52, of Erie, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at UPMC Hamot Hospital.  She was born in Erie, February 1, 1970, daughter of Howard P. and Cathy Froess Hamme.

Krista was a 1987 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and earned her AS in Dental Hygiene at the University of Pittsburgh.  She was a Dental Hygienist in Erie for many years. 

Krista enjoyed interior decorating, shopping, her cats, Pugs and hiking in Aspen, CO.  She loved her family above all, and her daughter Olivia was the light of her life.  Krista was so proud of how hard Olivia worked in school to fulfill her dream of going to Medical School.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Mabel Froess and Wilbur and Lucille Hamme.

In addition to her parents, Krista is survived by her husband, Gene P. Placidi and daughter, Olivia Bannister; stepchildren, Joseph M. Placidi and Carla A. (H. Reid) Grapes; 2 grandchildren, Gunnar P. and Gianna Grapes.  Further surviving are her sister, Beth R. (Martin J.) Bolton; nephew, and her nieces, all of whom she adored, Stevie Crockett, Alyssa Rovnak and Samantha Goetzinger.

On behalf of Krista, her family is thankful to all the Doctors who cared for her the past few months, especially, Dr. Beard, Dr. Klinge and Dr. Foti, all the nurses who cared for her, especially the nurses in the critical care unit, one was kinder than the other; and all other UPMC Hospital staff. Everyone’s kindness was so beyond comforting during this most difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
