Kevin Komorek

Kevin “Kip” Komorek, age 47, of Waterford, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Kip was born in Erie on May 5, 1974 a son of Georgia Ann Spusta Komorek and the late Dennis Peter Komorek.

He graduated from McDowell in 1992 and went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard.

Kip worked as a Carpenter for Mitchell Hardwoods, Flagship City Hardwoods and most recently BSI.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and anything outdoors. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and was a member of the Elk Valley Golf League. Kip also was a member of the American Legion Post #285.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Spusta; paternal grandparents, Peter and Laura Komorek; uncle William Loesch and his wife Ruth; and aunt, Evelyn Schneidmiller and her husband Robert.

He is survived by his mother Georgia Komorek and her husband Charles Tekotte; wife Shannon Komorek; two step-children, Mackenzie and Amaya Welsh; one sister, Julie Komorek (Brian Larson); two brothers, Craig Komorek and David Komorek and his wife Dashenka; nieces, Kacey, Ava and Annika Komorek ; a nephew Blake Larson and two uncles, David Spusta and his wife Barb and James Biebel and his wife Nancy.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church 130 E. 4th Street, Erie, PA 16507. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
