Kenneth Snider

January 3, 1953 — November 26, 2014

Kenneth Joseph Snider, 61, was called home by God on November 26th, 2014. He was an exceptional father and grandfather, and was loved by all whose lives he touched.

Ken was born in Erie, PA on January 3, 1953, the son of Robert and Evelyn Snider.

He grew up in Erie, and graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1972. Shortly after high school, he moved to Buffalo, NY, and volunteered with the Transit Fire Hall. Upon returning to Erie to start a family, he began to work for Quality Markets, formerly Loblaws, as a baker and cake decorator, and worked there until his retirement. After retirement, he continued to work part time as a doorman at the Siebenbuerger Club, and as a part time sexton at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. He also offered assistance to anyone who would ask. Ken provided Lay Ministry help to a number of different churches throughout the Northwest Pennsylvania Synod where he was a certified Lay Minister, and he was very involved in the Prison Ministry with Word of Life Christian Center International.

In his pastime, Ken was an avid Racecar enthusiast, especially at Eriez Speedway where he raced the #14 car for a number of years. He also enjoyed making model cars, decorating his home for the holidays, and attending all the local car shows and cruises in his 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. He was a member in good standing at the Siebenbuerger Club.

Ken was involved in much, and his passion was his church, but more than words can express, his love was his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Ken is preceded in death by his father, Robert Snider, and his closest friend John Pencille.

Survivors include his mother Evelyn Snider, his sister Debbie Fetzner, husband Paul, and his brother John Snider, wife Cathy, all of Atlanta, GA.

He is also survived by his son Michael Snider, wife Meghan, daughters Cathy Snider(Michael), Angela Snider, and Gina Snider and her fiancé Chris. His grandchildren Caiden Snider, Michael Heintzel, and newest grandson Matthew Snider. He is survived by his former wife of many years and mother of their chidren, Rebecca Snider, along with many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements will be made by Burton Funeral Home with private viewing and a Memorial Service to be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church on Monday, December 1st, 2014 at 6 p.m. presided by Pastor Bill Coleman and preached by pastoral assistant Ron King.

Donations can be made to the family c/o Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie PA 16502, in this time of need.
