Kenneth Skladanowski

Kenneth “Ken” Skladanowski, age 60, of Fairview, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at home.

He was born in Erie on September 3, 1954, the son of Walter and Rita Wienczkowski Skladanowski of Erie.

Ken graduated from Ft. Leboeuf High school and obtained his HVAC certification at Erie County Vo Tech. He was a maintenance technician at Triangle Tool, part of the Plastek group for 41 years. As a young boy, he participated in the Boy Scouts. Ken was a member of Holy Cross Church including the Holy Name Society, Cursillo, and served on the maintenance committee. He spent many years boating and snowmobiling. He loved to ride a bike, one of his favorite trips was Roger’s Century ride to Niagara Falls and GOBA. Ken enjoyed riding with the Monday Night Riders and the Presque Isle Cycle Club. He also belonged to the Nautilus and was a former member of Erie Runners Club and completed his first marathon at the age of 40. Ken was a lifetime Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He was always willing to lend a hand and was known as Mr. Fix It for family, friends and church family. He will be missed by his family and friends, including his cat Lucifer.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy Hardner Skladanowski; daughters, Jennifer Anderson (Eric) of West Seneca, NY and Jillian Wellington (Robert) of Pittsburgh; grandsons: Benjamin Wellington and Samuel Anderson; brothers, Lawrence (Tennie) of Greensboro, NC, Michael (Karen) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Martin (Lori) of Waterford; and sister Kathleen Bowden of Erie. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as sister in law, Carolyn (David) Lewis of Erie.

Friends may call at Holy Cross Church, on Thursday, 6-8pm and Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to attend a funeral mass at 10 am Saturday morning with Celebrant Father Thomas Tyler. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Church, 7100 W. Ridge Rd. Fairview or Bike Erie. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
