Kenneth Pruyn

Kenneth W. Pruyn age 70, of Erie, passed away July 3, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. He was born in Erie, PA on August 13, 1945 a son of the late Donald and Virginia Gunter Pruyn. He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and worked for 42 years as an electrician at the Erie General Electric Company. He enjoyed basketball, ice boating, sail boat competitions, fishing, skiing, any and all hunting, trap shoot competition, pool competitions, moto cross racing, kayaking, bicycling, dancing and kick boxing . Ken was a member of the Gem City Gun Club, the Erie Yacht Club, and a life time member of both the NRA and the North American Hunting Club. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by an infant son, James John, along with two grandsons; Joshua Erich and Matthew Pruyn. In addition to his wife Darlene, he is survived by three children; Mark Pruyn (Sherry) of Erie, Renee Ando (Mike) of Lancaster, NY and Kathy Blakeslee (Lance) of North East, PA. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Joshua and Nicholas Pruyn, Zach and Logan Erich, Amanda and Brad Sirca and Elle Blakeslee. Also survived by a great granddaughter Riley Nicole Erich. Five siblings also remain; Janet Lippy (John) of Spring Grove, PA, Nancy Salamonsen (Tim) of McKean, PA, Diane Bly of Erie, Jerry Pruyn of Erie and Mary Ann Galbraith (Howard) of Edinboro, PA. Many nieces and nephews also remain. Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, Pa 16510 on Thursday from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm and are invited to a service there on Friday at 11:00 am in the All Faith’s Chapel. Burial at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The entire Pruyn family would like to extend their thanks to Unit H at Pleasant Ridge Manor for the wonderful care they gave to Ken.
