Kenneth Mcconnell

Kenneth H. McConnell, age 94, of Erie, passed away Monday January 15, 2018 at Millcreek Community Hospital.

He was born in Thailand on December 2, 1923 son of the late  Rev. Ralph I. and Edna Hissem McConnell. He graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and  

served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-45.   Kenneth worked for Factory Mutual in the Engineering Division for 38 years.

Kenneth was a member of the Church of the Cross, where he served as an Elder.  He was also a Scoutmaster for 10 years, a volunteer at Chosen Mission Project  for 42 years and tutored at the City Mission for 5 years.  He loved building model airplanes, sailing, traveling, bird-watching and reading.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward McConnell and a sister, Elizabeth Gorzolla.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. McConnell; a daughter, Kathleen Barnes, her husband El Barnes, and their three children of Hawaii; two sons, Ron McConnell, his wife Susan and their 2 children of Girard, PA, and Stephen McConnell, his wife Kathy and their daughter, of Millcreek; one great grandson in Erie and two great grandsons in Hawaii.

Per his request, there will be no calling or service.
