Kenneth Johnson

April 3, 1931 — July 28, 2021

Kenneth B. Johnson, 90, of Fairview passed away at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center on Wednesday July 28, 2021.  He was born April 3, 1931 in Erie, son of the late Jay and Alice Hutchinson Johnson.

He was a 1949 graduate of Fairview High School where he met and two years later in 1951 married his high school sweetheart Peggie Sndyer, who passed away two days after having reached their 70th anniversary on St Patrick’s Day March 17, 2021.   He served in the US Navy during the Korean War where he attended classes at the Great Lakes Naval Academy Electronics School.   He then received his Associate’s degree from Gannon College. 

He worked at the Federal Aviation Administration in installation and General Electric in quality control.   He was also a commercial fisherman with Johnson White Fish Company.  After retirement, he volunteered at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center teaching many about fish and fishing. 

Ken was active in the Masonic Temple and Sons of Lake Erie.  He was a member of the American Legion.  He was a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggie and his brother Keith. 

Ken is survived by his sons Jon Daniel Johnson of Noblesville, IN, Clayton Drew Johnson of Fairview, PA and Eric J. Johnson (Michelle) of Denver, CO and his sister Janice Johnson Meeder of Girard.  He is further survived by his five grandchildren Danielle, Drew, Lily, Cooper and Kiera and many nieces and nephews. 

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) Erie, PA 16506. Inurnment will be private and at a later date within the family lot at Fairview Cemetery.
