Kathleen McCallion DiNicola, 73, died after a two year battle with cancer with her husband, sons and sisters at her side.
Kathy was born August 11, 1951, a daughter of the late Edward and Nancy Weis McCallion. Kathy attended St. Andrew Grade School and Strong Vincent High School. She met Tony at Strong Vincent High School and they married after graduating from college. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 24, 2023.
Kathy graduated from Shippensburg University with a bachelor’s degree followed by her Master’s Degree and Principals Certificate from Gannon University. Kathy worked her entire career at Villa Maria Academy as a teacher for 12 years and assistant principal for 30 years until her retirement in 2016. Kathy was active in Relay for Life for several years.
In addition to her parents Kathy was predeceased by her brother Edward McCallion and brother- in- law, Bob Baran. She is survived by her husband Anthony (Tony) DiNicola, sons Adam DiNicola of Erie, and Marc (Nichole) DiNicola of Clayton, NC and their three children, Nicholas, Logan, and Madelyn. Kathy is also survived by her brother Timothy (Anne) McCallion of Henderson, NV; sisters Marybeth Baran and Patricia (Gary) Jaskiewicz, in- laws Linda (Will) Rice, David (Jennifer) DiNicola, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank the excellent care from LECOM VNA Hospice nurses, Tracy, Emily and especially Janelle! We would also like to acknowledge and thank Leia and Jody of Sarah Reed Skilled Nursing for the excellent care given to Kathy during her stay!
Family and friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Downtown, 602 W 10th St., Erie, PA on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Further visiting will be held Saturday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2401 W.38th St. from 11:00 am until 12 noon at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Private burial will follow.
