Kathleen Curry

Kathleen A. (McConnell) Curry of Erie passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Pittsburgh on May 22, 1947, the daughter of the late Randy and Edna McConnell.

She attended St. Elizabeth’s Elementary and High School in Pittsburgh and graduated with a BA from the University of Dayton in 1969. 

Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly39 years, Tom, daughter Megan (Neville) Curry Ross of Gloucester, MA, son Mike and his fiancée Lauren Ernst of Bristol, TN, her grandson Boedy Thomas Ross, her brothers Randy (Julie) McConnell and Jim (JoAnne Scalise) McConnell and sister Peggy (Jim) Meadows as well as nieces Melanie McConnell, Cristen Meadows and Caitlin Chambers. She was predeceased by her first husband Matthew Verlich. 

Following her graduation from Dayton Kathy began her career as a Home Economist for Columbia Gas in Uniontown, PA. She then moved back to Pittsburgh to work as a Case Worker for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.  Later she joined Allstate Insurance in the Claims Department, where she met Tom. Her best efforts were reserved for being a supporting and loving mom to Megan and Mike. She volunteered as a Brownie troop leader and held many positions with the PTA and the Sewing Guild. Kathy enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, the beach and spending time with family and friends. She remained close friends with her college roommates 50+ years after graduating.

The family would like to thank the staff of Regional Cancer Center, especially Dr. Jan Rothman, for their kindness and caring of her through her illness.

Private services will be held at convenience of the family and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
