Katherine A. Lopes age 59, of Millcreek, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in Erie on August 13, 1956 the daughter of the late William A. and Katherine A. Kelberg Lopes.

Kathy graduated from Villa Maria Academy and received her B.S. and MBA degrees from Gannon University. She worked as a product marketing coordinator for API Technologies (the former Spectrum Control) for over 30 years. She was a member of the Erie Yacht Club and volunteered for the MS Charity Regatta there for many years.

Kathy loved sailing and she, along with her husband Bob, crewed on the U. S. Brig Niagara following it’s reconstruction in 1991. She also enjoyed golfing and was an avid gardener, spending many hours in her yard. Kathy enjoyed taking trips to Europe (with her girlfriend from Germany) and California to visit her brother. She especially loved spending time with her friends and always enjoyed a “good party”.

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert J. “Bob” Arlet; a stepson, Ryan Arlet; and a brother, Bill “Wim” Lopes and his wife Danette of Long Beach, California. She is further survived by many, many good friends who she cared for deeply.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Detisch officiating.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
