Katharine Spencer

Katharine Spencer, age 78, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at LECOM Village at Luther Square.

She was born in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada on January 14, 1945, a daughter of the late Charles and Thelma Taylor Spencer.

Katharine was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy, Class of 1963, and earned an Associate’s Degree from the Erie Business Center in 1986.

She was an avid gardener and loved flowers and trees. She was an avid reader like her mum, her favorite author was Stephen King. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and working on jigsaw puzzles and playing board games. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Spencer and a sister, Sharon (Doug) Baird.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Tony) Grande, and Cynthia “Cindy” (Tim) Peyton, both of Erie, seven grandchildren, Natasha Catledge, and Celeste, A.J., Julia and Michael Grande, Logan and Rebekah Peyton, a brother, Everett (Lois) Spencer and a sister-in-law, Mary Spencer. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 147 West 24th Street, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. with Father Larry Richards officiating.

Inurnment will be in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
