Karl Frederick “Bud” Kovacs III passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Erie on April 20, 1939 to the late Karl F. Sr. and Jeannie I. Kalsch Kovacs.

He’s survived by his wife, Carol Jean Kovacs; their children, Karl F. Kovacs IV of Rockville, MD and Kellee Sadler (Daniel) of Pittsburgh; sister, Barbara O’Neal of Mount Joy, PA; grandchildren, Ashleigh Sadler Hughes (Corey) of Pittsburgh, Kelsey Hartman (Tim) of Baltimore, MD, Joseph Sadler of Pittsburgh and Koby Kovacs of Rockville, MD and nieces, Sharon and Deborah O’Neal both of Mount Joy, PA 

Bud graduated from McDowell High School. He operated Kovacs Machine Company until retiring in 2007. He was proud of his service to the United States Army, where he was a field grade Sargeant. He was also very proud of his lifetime membership in the Shrine of North America and that he sponsored three children to the Shriners Hospitals of North America.

Bud donated blood all of his adult life and has donated his remains to science. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA 16510.
