Karen Stanton

Karen Louise Presgraves Stanton, 58, of Erie, PA, passed away in her home on November 5th, 2014. Karen was born in Newport News, VA on May 27th, 1956 to Kenneth L. and Ellen (Peggy) L. Presgraves. Karen graduated from Homer L. Ferguson High School in 1974 where she enjoyed playing basketball. She married Timothy J. Stanton on December 4th, 1975, in Newport News and moved to Erie, PA after the completion of Tim’s Navy services.

Karen was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and wife. Her favorite activity was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and husband of 39 years. She also enjoyed gardening, hollering for Big Honey, attending concerts, cooking for family and friends, and talking at length with family, friends, neighbors, and grocery store clerks.

Karen used her people skills in her at Florence Crittenton Home, Kraus’s Department Store, and Metro Health Center in Erie, PA.

Karen is survived by her husband, Timothy J. Stanton of Erie; parents Kenneth L. and Ellen (Peggy) L. Presgraves of Newport News; son Timothy J. Stanton, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kelly A. Stanton of Darlington, PA; daughter Rhonda R. Souders and son-in-law Aaron W. Souders of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Kalib Stanton, Addilay Stanton, and Madeleine Souders; brothers Kenneth, Kevin, Stephen, John, and Jeffrey; sisters Kathy and Delores; brother-in-law Tim Witt; sister-in-laws Sheila, Janet, Linda, Denise, and Nicole; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved cat Bootsy.

Viewings will be held at Burton Funeral Home, 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502 on, Sunday from 2:00 till 4:00 pm and 7:00 till 9:00 pm and are invited to a Funeral service there on Monday at 10:00 am with a graveside service immediately following at Erie Cemetery.
