Karen Pettigrew Luczak

December 10, 1956 — September 9, 2023

Karen Pettigrew Luczak, age 66, formerly of Girard, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Mooresville, NC.

She was born in Cincinnati, OH on December 10, 1956, daughter of the late Fred and Nancy Peters.

She was a graduate of McDowell High School and worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years before retiring to be a Grandma.

Karen had a quick witted personality and dark sense of humor but welcomed everyone and loved like no other. She enjoyed cooking/baking for her loved ones using secret family recipes, planning a fun back yard event and sinking her toes in the sand at Topsail Island Beach.

Karen loved spending time with her variety of friends and family but especially her three grandchildren. She shined the most when being a “Gaga” whether it was helping with homework, indulging in a card/board game or teaching them how to cook with the family recipes.  Karen loved her grandchildren more than anything and was beyond excited to meet her great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson Walker Scott Pettigrew and her favorite son Matthew Grayson Pettigrew.

She is survived by her daughter and best friend Jessica Walker Hawk and son in law Leonard Hawk, former son in law Douglas Walker Jr., ex-husband Dhurword (Dag) Pettigrew and granddaughter Miranda Walker all of Girard. Her daughter in law, Katie Pettigrew as well as grandsons’ Grayson and Asher Pettigrew all of Mooresville. Sister Dena Vermillion of Charlotte, her children and Karen’s’ niece and nephews.  Ashley Buxton (Johnny) of SC, Gregory Vermillion (Becky) of WV and Houston Vermillion (Val) of NC.  She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, her cousin Dana (Scott) Heim and her very best friend of 45 years Nancy Morrison.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard on Sunday, Sept. 17th from 2 to 5pm . In lieu of a service there will be a short closing and prayer.

In the words of Snoop Dog ~ “Sorry for my bluntness, that’s just how I roll!”

Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes, 1131 West 38th St., Erie PA 16508.
