Karen Callahan

Karen L. Callahan, age 69, of Erie, died suddenly on Friday November 6, 2015 at UPMC Hamot. She was born on October 27, 1946 in Erie to the late Richard and Dorothy Brotherson Hanson.

Karen graduated from Strong Vincent High School. She worked many years in housekeeping for the local hospitals, Comfort Inn, and Matrix Tool, retiring six years ago. She enjoyed life, being outdoors, working on projects around the house and traveling. She was always so helpful and caring and loved animals. But her greatest joy was keeping a watchful eye over her family, especially her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Hanson, and a daughter Kristen Lee.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert; three children: Jeffrey (Erin) Callahan, Jennifer (James) Bean, and Lee (Jacob) Sack, all of Erie; and five grandchildren: Devin and Jordan Callahan, Jesse and Joseph Bean and Kelsey Sack.

Friends are invited to call on the family on Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 W. 10th St. and attend a time of sharing there on Monday Nov. 9 at 11am. Inurnment will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
