Karen S. Black, age 74, of Celebration, FL, longtime resident of Erie, died on Thursday June 28th, 2018 at Florida Hospital in Orlando after a brief illness. She was born in Erie, PA, at Hamot Hospital on October 25, 1943, a daughter of the late William T. and Phyllis Miller Stout.
Karen graduated from Strong Vincent High School. She attended Penn State Main Campus at University Park until her marriage. She later went back to school and graduated summa cum laude from Mercyhurst College in Erie. She was active in many clubs and organizations while she lived in Erie including the Carrie T. Watson Garden Club, the Women’s Club of Erie, the Erie County Historical Society, the Erie Club, the Kahkwa Club, and Lakeshore Country Club. Karen moved to the Orlando FL area in 2009 to enjoy her retirement.
She is survived by her sons: Samuel Patton Black, IV, Christopher William Black and a sister Kristin S. Graham and her husband Mark S. Graham; and the father of her children Samuel P. “Pat” Black, III.
Friends are invited to call on the family at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th St. on Friday July 13th from 3-6pm and Saturday July 14th from 10am – 12 Noon. Services will be private. Burial in Erie Cemetery.
