Julio Acosta Jr., age 76, of Erie, died on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Toabjaha, Puerto Rico on April 13, 1942, a son of the late Julio K. and Magdalena Perez Acosta.
Julio ventured solo to the United States at age 15 where he found work and eventually settled in Erie. He worked for Conrail for many years. He loved to make people laugh, often playing a practical joke on them. He liked to watch boxing and Westerns. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially on camping trips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie and granddaughter, Sheena, two infant children, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene Stafford Acosta; his children, Junior (Anne) Jackson, Alfredo (Sabrina Myers) Acosta, Tonya Acosta, Autumn Acosta, Magdalena Acosta, Julio Acosta, Maria Acosta, Rosa Acosta, Carmen Acosta, Francisco Acosta, Geno Acosta, Eleanor Acosta, Mark Prindle, Cheryl Miller, David Prindle, Donna Smith, Laura Guarino, Darlene Campbell and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by five brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Monday October 29, 2018 at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 W. 10th St., from 10am until the time of the service at Noon 12pm. Burial to follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens, 7880 Edinboro Rd., Erie.
