Julia M. Thompson, age 95, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Independence Court.
Julia was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 4, 1921, a daughter of the late George A. and Elizabeth Von Fonton Matijasic.
She was a graduate of Aliquippa High School and was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. She worked at the Boston Store, later known as Hornes, for over 30 years. She loved reading and was a great cook. Julia’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, O. B. Thompson, four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Jean Thompson Lyons of Erie; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan Lyons and his wife Wanda of Erie, Laura Ann Malott of MN and David Bruce Lyons and his wife Electa of Erie; ten great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Arrangements are private and entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16506.
