Judith Ann Shapiro
April 12, 1938 — April 14, 2024
Judith Ann Shapiro, age 86, of Erie, passed away peacefully and suddenly due to a severe blood infection, on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at AHN in Wexford. She was born in Pittsburgh PA on April 12, 1938, a daughter of the late Abe Charles (Chuck) & Tema Schutzman Adler. Judy graduated from Taylor Allderice High School in Pittsburgh, in January 1956. Later that year the family moved to Erie. She attended Penn State Behrend and worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses until her retirement in 2008. Judy enjoyed knitting, needlework, reading, MahJong, cards, tennis, pickleball, and attending shows at the Erie Playhouse. She was an active member of Brith Sholom Synagogue serving as secretary for the Board of Directors for many years.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her infant sister Edna Jean Adler; her husband Jerome Shapiro whom she was married to for 62 years at the time of his death in 2021 and a brother, Simon Adler.
She is survived by her children: Betsy Greenawalt (Duane) of Bennington, VT, David Shapiro (Michele) of Pennington, NJ and Michael Shapiro of Little Rock, AR. She is further survived by her sister: Marilyn Olgin (Jerry) of Phoenix, and grandchildren: Monica, Tyler, Nicole, Deven, Blake, Paige and Melissa.
Friends may attend her graveside service on Wednesday, April 17th at 10:30 a.m. at CBS Cemetery, 2625 Asbury Rd, Erie, PA 16506.
