Judith Evelyn (Hinkson) Vogt
"Judi" Vogt, age 84, of Millcreek Township died at home on Friday, August 30th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 17th, 1940 to the late Benjamin & Sadie (Langdon) Hinkson. She loved and cherished her Mom dearly for the strong, hard-working woman she was. Judi became every bit the woman her mom was, and her family admired this amazing woman for how strong she truly was until the very end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Donald "Gunner" Vogt, who was a police officer for Millcreek for 30 years. In additon to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Carol (Hinkson) Agostino. She adored and loved her big sister with all of her heart.
She worked as a waitress at the Aviation Country Club for about 30 years. She made many wonderful memories there.
Judi had a large family. She enjoyed get-togethers with her five children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-granchildren. Having a large family, she also cherished her alone time. In her quiet time, she enjoyed reading a lot. She was an avid reader, who would delve into books and read several a week. She kept her mind sharp by doing crosswords, too.
When she was well, she loved to garden and sit outside in the nice weather and watch the birds.
In her later days, she enjoyed eating whatever she wanted; including ice cream and chocolate, binge-watching TV shows, and reminiscing with her family.
Judi is survived by her five children,: Janet "Jann" (Markley) Baldwin and husband, Brian; Elizabeth "Beth" (Markley) Harmle and husband, Tim; Howard "Chip" Markley,; Thomas Vogt and wife, Amanda; Danielle(Vogt) Makynen and husband, Bobby.
She had 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Ken Hinkson and wife, Rita.
Judi's family would like to wholeheartedly thank the staff at UPMC Hospice for treating her so well and being so kind. We would like to especially thank her usual care team: Stacy, Kathleen, and Britany, whom she called her friend shortly before her death. She loved all of them, and they became like family.
Burial will be private at the request of Judi and her family. A celebration of life with all of her cherished family will follow.
