Joyce (Langer) McGee
Joyce McGee, 74, died Jan. 11, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born Mary Joyce Langer on Aug. 15, 1940, in Erie, the daughter of Henry “Hank” Langer and Margaret “Peggy” North Langer. A graduate of St. Patrick’s grade school and Villa Maria Academy, she began her career in banking and later joined her husband at Modular Engineering. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. She welcomed everyone into her home and onto her boat, “Me and Bobby McGee,” where she gave her family and friends countless special memories. Joyce loved to travel, particularly to the Caribbean and Las Vegas, and she belonged to the Erie Yacht Club, the Elks Lodge and the Sportsmen Club.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Bob McGee, two sons, Robert (Michelle) McGee and Jason McGee (Jennifer Perry), and two grandsons, Marine Pfc. Brennan Perry and Robert "RJ" McGee, her "Baby" who filled her with joy, all of Erie; her twin sister, Mary Joan “Joie” Rzepecki of Erie; her siblings, H. “Jack” (Maria) Langer, Tom (Mari Ann) Langer and Mary Margaret (Jim) Orloff, all of Erie, Mary Karen (Jim) Romanski of Tampa Bay, Fla., and Dennis (Ellen) Langer of Dayton, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her brother Timothy Langer and her brother-in-law Ronald Rzepecki. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty Sts., on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend prayer services there Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
