Joyce Jensen

Joyce Carideo Jensen, age 84 of Erie passed away on December 25, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Erie on November 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Anthony Carideo and Tresa Arnoldi Carideo.

She graduated from Strong Vincent in the class of 1950. Joyce worked for Zurn Industries and the St. Vincent Hospital Snack Shop.

She was a Life Member of the Cascade Club, Sommerlyst Club, was an avid bowler and participated in many tournaments.

Over the years she created many crocheted lap robes and afghans, and donated these to the Soldiers and Sailors Home and to other various charities. She also loved playing bingo, going to the casino, and lottery tickets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Jensen, son Richard Jensen, daughter Louise and son-in-law Jeffery Landis, Sr., grandson Jeffery Landis Jr., brothers Donald Cardo, Anthony Carideo, John Carideo, Nicholas Carideo, and sisters Lilian Carideo Engle, Donna Carideo Root, and Mary Vincent Carideo.

She is survived by two sons, John Jensen (Chris), Craig Jensen; four daughters: Christine Koehle (Bill), Linda Landis, Debbie Sawtelle (Dave), Ann Swanson (Ron), daughter-in-law Barbara Jensen, all of Erie; eleven grandchildren: Lynn Halasz (Mike), Alice Dovishaw (Paul), Amy Jones (Tom), Keith Jensen (Daneene), Kevin Jensen, Mark Landis (Lisa), Michael Landis (Carrie), Stephanie Sawtelle, Brad Sawtelle, Breanne (Rich) Walburn, and Lindsey Swanson; many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St, Erie, PA 16502 on Wednesday from 3 PM until 6 PM followed by a short service.

Burial will be private in Erie County Memorial Gardens.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Rich Jensen-Jeffrey Landis Jr. Memorial Fund for Children’s Charities in care of the Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th St, Erie, PA 16507, or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street Erie PA 16501.
