Joyce Marie Hyche, age 67 of Erie, passed away on Saturday, June 23,2018 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born in Tuscaloosa, AL April 1, 1951, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Hardy Hyche.
Joyce graduated from Riverside High School, Northport, AL in 1968, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Gannon University in 1980. She came to Erie in 1970 and resided here for 48 years.
She was a Deputy Sheriff for Erie County for 20 years, retiring in 2008.
Joyce loved her family, children, and her grandkids were the love of her life. She also enjoyed playing cards, decorating her home, collecting antiques, and HGTV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion of 37 years, Billy Ray Williams, Sr. who died in 2010; brothers James Earl Hyche and Johnny Hyche, and her sister Annette Brown.
Survivors include her children Niko Hyche and wife Laura Lee, Damean Williams and his significant other Alexis DeWalt, Billy Ray Williams, Jr. and his significant other Kinedra Johnson, Patrick Williams and his significant other Victoria Gaines, all of Erie; grandchildren Nathan Hyche, Nicholas Hyche, Deja Williams, Ahmad Mims, Nolan Hyche, Sanai Hyche, Caprice Hollis, Spirit Hollis,and one to be expected very soon. Also surviving are her siblings Mary Mack of Rochester, NY; Vera Cameron and her husband Willie of Erie; Willie Stewart Hyche of Erie, and Jeanette Hyche-Hargress of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Friends may call at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd., on Friday June 29th, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Reverend Amos Goodwine, Jr. officiating.
Burial in Erie Cemetery.
