Joyce Guras

Joyce Elaine Guras, age 70, of Erie, PA and formerly of Bairdford and West Deer, PA, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Nightingale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on April 2, 1954 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Frank Dawson and Dorothy Kelloway Dawson, of Deer Lakes, PA. Joyce attended Russelton Elementary and was a graduate of West Deer High School.

A homemaker, Joyce owned the canteen at the PA Soldiers & Sailors Home of Erie where she serviced the Veteran residents and employees for 8 years. She was also a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church. Along with her husband John. Joyce enjoyed music, camping, and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Terry Morra of West Palm Beach, FL, and a brother Timothy Dawson of Russellton, PA.

Joyce is survived by her husband, John J. Guras, Jr.; four sons, John Paul Guras (Amy) of James City, PA, Bryan G. Guras, Christopher L. Guras, Jacob W. Guras (Sara), all of Erie; one sister, Vivian Leight of Russellton, PA; her brother, Frank Dennis Dawson of Irwin, PA, a brother in law, David Guras of Franklin, PA; and two sisters in law Mary Mikulan (Walt), and Janet Paden (John). Joyce is further survived by twelve grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Friends are invited to call on the family Monday, August 19, 2024 at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m.
