Joseph W. Sisak age 90, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born on Lundy's Lane near Albion on April 20, 1922 a son of the late Nicholas and Anna Kosty Sisak.
Joseph graduated from Albion High School in 1941 and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Corps. He served as a sergeant and earned his Aerial Gunnery Wings at Tyndall Field in Florida and also graduated from the Flexible Gunnery Class in 1943 where he learned to be an Airplane Mechanic and flew on the B25 Bombers.
He worked at GE and then at Trasks later becoming Carlisle Department Store for over 25 years until his retirement.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Joseph was a very active hard working naturalist, who enjoyed working on cars, feeding wildlife, reading, especially holistic medicine books, gardening and spending time in the sun.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 60 years, Mary Lou Sisak; two sons, Joseph W. Sisak Jr. and his wife Stephanie and James M. Sisak and his companion Ayrn Herron all of Erie; two brothers, Mike Sisak and his wife Jeanne of Solvang CA and George Sisak of Fairview; a sister, Betty Wright of Girard; a grandson, Theodore N. Sisak of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Friday from 11:00 a.m until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Dyke officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with full Military Honors.
