Joseph Sierota

Joseph E. Sierota age 86, of Erie, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

He was born in Erie on August 3, 1934, a son of the late Elsie Rowland and step-son of the late John Rowland.

Joe was a commercial artist employed by local advertising agencies.

He was known as JaJa to his family and grandchildren.  His greatest joy was drawing cartoons for his grandchildren, family and friends.  Joe liked the New York Yankees, Jazz music, Frank Sinatra, a long walk in the woods and a cold beer and cigarette on a warm sunny day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Sierota.  

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy L. Sierota; one daughter, Julie  Sierota; two sons, Joseph Sierota and his wife Heidi of Erie and Jonathan Sierota of Sarasota, FL; one grandson, David Sierota; one granddaughter, Jennifer Sierota, both of Sarasota, FL; a brother, Ted Sierota and his wife Joan and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Elmwood Gardens for their care and compassion over the years.

Due to Covid- 19 restrictions, services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services West Ridge 3808 West 26^th St. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
