Joseph Shaffer

Joseph A. (Red) Shaffer, aka Papa Shaffs died Thursday, February 2, 2023 at home with his family at his side. He was born March 21, 1950 in Brookville, PA the son of the late Paul and Alice (Geer) Shaffer.

A longtime resident of Erie, Red was a truck driver for several local companies and enjoyed everyone he ever worked with. An excellent pool player, whom some would call a” pool shark”, he also enjoyed a good game of cards.  Red was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steeler fan and a longtime member of the Fulton Club.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Shaffer and a sister, Alice Cowley.

“Papa Shaffs” is survived by his children: Eric Shaffer, Joe Shaffer, Val Haag and Dave Shaffer, and is the brother of Robert Shaffer, William Shaffer (Jeanne), Paul Shaffer, Jr. (Linda), Frank Shaffer (Natalie) and Connie Stull; Grandchildren: Chad, Chris (Kim), Mariah and Joey; Great- grandchildren: Ava, Ainsliegh and Nate. He is also survived by the mother of his children (Eric & Joe) Karla Orlosky.

There will be no visitation and a private Celebration of his Life will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements by the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9^th & Liberty St.
