Joseph P. Sekula, age 88, of Lawrence Park, passed away Saturday December 29, 2012 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born November 14, 1924 in Stump Creek, PA a son of the late Lawrence and Anna Bujnowska Sekula.
Joseph served in the US Navy during WWII and worked in the manufacturing plant at the American Sterilizer Company for many years.
Following his retirement Joseph loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey and a daughter Paula Ann who died at birth. He was also preceded in death by brothers Paul, Frank, Stan and Raymond Sekula and a sister Catherine Kuhn.
Joseph is survived by 3 sons Larry Sekula, Steve (Penny) Sekula and Joseph Sekula Jr.; a daughter-in-law Marjorie Sekula; grandchildren Debra (Michael) Goodwin, Lora Pirrello, Rachael (Gabe) Shatto, Sarina (Milton) Ortiz, Chealin Sekula, Caroline (Wade) Feast, and Daniel Sekula and several great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother Walter Sekula and sisters Julie Kosempa and Victoria Brosky.
Services are private at the convenience of the family and are entrusted to the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Road Erie, PA 16510.
Burial in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
