Joseph Rice

Joseph E. Rice, age 78, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at LECOM Senior Center in Erie. He was born in Erie, on June 14, 1938, the son of the late Joseph S. and Bernetta Katzenberger Rice.

Joseph was a driver for Hammermill Paper Company for almost 48 Years and was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club, Pulaski Club and the PNA Club. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dorothy Hunt Rice, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Osborne and a daughter, Barbara Ann Rice.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Griffin of Erie and a stepdaughter Joyce Osborne, and his stepson, Clifford Osborne both of Erie along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road, Erie, PA. 16501 on Wednesday from 4:00 pm till the time of the service there at 6:00 pm.

Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cremation Gardens.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French Street, Erie, PA 16501.
