Joseph L. Lewandowski, age 78 of North East, PA, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at
his residence.
He was born in Erie on February 20, 1936, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Komorek Lewandowski.
Joseph graduated from Cathedral Prep High School, class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 aboard the USS Brush DD 745.
He worked for General Electric Company for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Joseph was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Foresters, the American Legion, the Moose Club, and the North East Sportsmens Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, spending time at camp, and attending the USS Brush reunions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Leona Mitcham.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gloria D. Fisher Lewandowski, sons Joseph M. Lewandowski (Nancy), John L. Lewandowski, and grandchildren Amanda Lewandowski Bireline (Garrett), and Joseph D. Lewandowski (Erica), great grandson Joseph D. Lewandowski, eight step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Private interment in Whispering Pines Cremation Garden.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Regional Cancer Center, UPMC Hamot Infusion Center, Community Nursing of North East Hospice, and Dr. Frank Pregler for taking such great care of Joe for the past four years.
