Joseph Knight, 74, of 1247 Buffalo Rd, Erie, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Soso, Mississippi on March 13, 1941 to the late Dollie Lyons (Leonard) Knight and Willie Barnett.
Joseph attended school in Jones County, MS and relocated to Erie as a young adult. He worked various jobs including several years each at Hammermill, General Electric and then retired after 14 years as a driver for EMTA.
Affectionately known as “The Gambler”, Joseph was a lifetime member of the Soulsville Bowling League and Smith and Barney Post 700.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Ann Roberts Knight; two brothers, Michael and Willie Barnett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Alicia Knight Connors and Lucretia Knight; four sons, Marvin Knight of Charleston, SC and Mark D. Knight, Rayfes Roberts and Klent Roberts; two brothers, Edward Barnett and William Miezikus; three sisters, Lynda R. Barnett, Brenda Sweet, and Pamela D. Barnett; his first wife of forty years, Lois Larkin Knight; longtime companion, Karen Green; a special friend, Carol Dawson; best friends, L.C. Stovall, Claude Allen and Willie C. McAdory; a host of grand and great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home 602 West 10th Street Erie, on Monday, July 27, from 11am until 1pm with service to follow with Rev. D.F. Hunter, officiating. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
