Joseph Kirsopp

April 25, 1924 — June 28, 2014

Joseph R. Kirsopp Jr. age 90, of Fairview, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.

He was born in Mt. Lebanon, PA, on April 25, 1924, a son of the later Joseph and Rose Wetzel Kirsopp Sr.

He served in the United States Marine Corps, during WWII, on the USS Quincy CA-71. Took part as a Marine Detachment at the invasion as a gun crew member in Normandy, on D-Day and several other assignments.

He was a welder at Riley Stoker for many years.

Joseph was a charter member of the Fairview American Legion, Fairview United Methodist Church, and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, fishing on his fishing boat and was quite the putteror.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Graff Kirsopp, and brothers and sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Pam Barton and her husband Terry of Cranesville; a son Thomas Kirsopp and his wife Sharon of Girard; six grandchildren, Michelle, Fawn and Tommy Jr. and Faith, Marissa and Terry Jr.; four great grandchildren, William, Kylie, Alie, and Emerson; and a great great grandson Christopher.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home 525 main Street East Girard, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. James Gerber officiating. Burial with full Military Honors in Fairview Cemetery.
